Ball Tracker
Even though l already had a ball tracker for my classroom I decided to purchase one from Montessori and Me. What caught my attention was the details of their ball tracker. I love that there are little spaces for the balls to rest on the top as well as the tray to contain the balls from rolling away.
I bought a similar version of this for my kids when they were little, and they loved it. So I know this is a good toy for kids from those just standing: they can use it to help hold themselves up to kids up until about 5. Even older kids seem drawn to it for some reason.I love a toy that entertains kids without lights or sounds. I love a toy that isn't plastic. The one I bought years ago had brightly colored rubberized balls. This has muted color much harder balls. On a hard surface, when these fall off the toy, you are going to hear it.The only thing that could improve this toy is if they had a place for the balls to rest on top of the toy. My littles kept trying to set the balls on top, but they just roll off.I gave it as a gift to my great niece and nephew, and they both played with it as soon as they opened it and as soon as they got home.
This is an excellent toy that toddlers love to play with at the library. It helps them track from left to right (a pre-reading skill), as well as assisting with hand/eye coordination. I appreciated that the toy has the added feature of indented areas on the top flat panel, so children have the extra pleasure of lining up the balls in a row before pushing them into the hole to watch them fall. Also appreciated that each ball is a different color, adding more learning. My only suggestion for improvement is that the balls were made of a lighter weight material. A set of hollow rubber balls would be great.
It's very easy to use, so cute, and seriously great quality! My daughter loves it!
Wow, our two year old loves this toy. It is well made with thick wood and seems indestructible. The top of the toy has indentations where the balls can be stored. I would have preferred a more stable place to store them where they couldn't fall out so easily but it is still a good set up. The only odd thing about the toy is that the ball colors are not primary colors. In other words the blue is kind of a blue gray and the red is almost pink. Nonetheless, it is pricey but a great toy that will last.

A little known fact: Ball trackers help prepare a child for reading and writing by developing left to right and right to left visual tracking! This muscle memory translates to the same visual functions that are used for tracking words in sentences.

Getting Started
Getting Started
The Ball Tracker provides children with the opportunity to build important developmental skills including those relevant to cognitive and physical development. Show your child how to drop the ball at the top and how it zig zags as it rolls down. You can then collect the ball from the bottom and start over again. Continue doing it until your child is ready to do it on her or his own.
